Sri Lanka gears up to provide fool proof security system during ICC Cricket World Cup

The Sri Lankan Police along with the Army, Special Task Force (STF) and Air Force are gearing up to provide fool proof security system during the International Cricket World Cup which will be held from February 20 to March 29 in Sri Lanka.Stating this, the Senior Deputy Inspector General N K Illangakoon, said that that it was a massive responsibility vested on all security personnel. The Sri Lankan Police, he said, will play a major role in giving a 24 hour security, supported by the Army and STF on the ground.India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh are co-hosting the ICC Cricket World Cup. Players, ICC match officials, volunteer helpers, foreign visitors, media personnel and cricket fans will be in Sri Lanka during the tournament.Sri Lanka, West Indies, Netherland, Zimbabwe, Australia, Kenya, Canada, New Zealand and Pakistan teams will play in Colombo, Kandy and Hambantota.
