In Sri Lanka, filing of nominations for parliamentary elections has begun today even as doubts are being raised over holding of elections amidst crisis created by COVID 19. The filling of nominations will continue till next Thursday and elections are scheduled for 25th of next month. A government spokesman said they are closely monitoring the situation arising out of COVID crisis and will review the situation, if needed.<br />''<br />''Sri Lanka has seen its first confirmed case among local population yesterday while a couple of suspected cases have surfaced today. The country has suspended visa on arrival facility for foreign travellers since holding of elections with some opposition MPs alleging that there is a move by the government to postpone the election citing coronavirus as an excuse. However, election commission has said it has not taken such any decision and were holding discussions with the health ministry over measures to be taken when people are assembling at one place. Sri Lankan parliament was dissolved early this month, six months before its term was to end as new President Gotabaya Rajapaksa is looking for a clear majority in parliament for his side.&nbsp;
