Sri Lanka emerge victorious, will face NZ in the first semi-final on Tuesday

In the ICC Cricket World Cup, co-hosts Sri Lanka defeated England and emerged victorious in the last quarter-final played in Colombo.At the R. Premadasa Stadium, chasing a modest target of 230 for win, the co-hosts made 231 runs in 39.3 overs. Earlier, electing to bat, England recovered from early setbacks to score 229 for six in the allotted 50 overs.Sri Lanka will face New Zealand in the first semi-final at the same venue next Tuesday. Meanwhile, the Indian team which will play the high-voltage second semi-final against arch-rivals Pakistan, at the PCA Stadium, Mohali, on Wednesday, arrived in Chandigarh today. The team will have a practice session at the stadium tomorrow. The Pakistan team had arrived in the city on Friday.
