Sri Lanka Coast Guard arrests three Indian fishermen

Sri Lanka Navy on Thursday said that the Coast Guard has arrested three Indian fishermen for illegal poaching in Sri Lankan waters.<br/><br/>According to the Sri Lankan Navy media office, the fishermen along with one Indian fishing trawler were taken into custody North-West of Delft Island.<br/><br/>The arrested fishermen have been handed over to the officials of the Department of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources in Jaffna.<br/><br/>With these arrests, the number of Indian fishermen in Sri Lankan custody now stands at 99 and the number of Indian fishing boats at 90.<br/><br/>Next round of talks between the two governments to resolve the issue of fishermen trespassing into each other's' territory is likely to take place in New Delhi in May.
