Sri Lanka beat New Zealand by 5 wickets; Enters WC final

In the first semi-final of the ICC Cricket World Cup in Colombo, co-hosts Sri Lanka beat New Zealand by 5 wickets. Earlier, electing to bat after winning the toss at the R. Premadasa Stadium, the Kiwis were all out for 217 in 48.5 overs. Scott Styris was the top-scorer with 57. Meanwhile, the Punjab Cricket Association is all geared up to host the high-profile second semi-final of the World Cup at Mohali, Chandigarh, on Wednesday. PCA Secretary M P Pandove, who is also BCCI Treasurer said in Mohali that it is a great opportunity and a great honour to be hosting such a high-profile match, in which Prime Ministers of India and Pakistan besides other dignitaries will be present. On the VVIPs coming for the match, Pandove said that UPA Chairperson and Congress President Sonia Gandhi, Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar, ICC President and Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar, Pakistan Cricket Board Chief Ejaz Bhat are among others to watch the match.All India Radio will broadcast live commentary on the Day-Night fixture. The commentary can be heard on Medium Wave and FM Gold Channel from 2 P.M. onwards.Wednesday's semi-final between India and Pakistan is the first match between the two cricket-crazy nations on the Indian soil since the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks.Unprecedented security cover has been thrown in and around the PCA Stadium.
