Bangladesh and Sri Lanka have signed five memorandums of understanding to strengthen cooperation in different fields like trade, agriculture, vocational education, science and culture. The agreements were signed in Dhaka on Monday following the talks between visiting Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa and Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.The five MoUs include cooperation between Export Development Board of Sri Lanka and Export Promotion Bureau of Bangladesh, cooperation between Ministry of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Development of Sri Lanka and Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock of Bangladesh and cooperation between Bangladesh Agricultural Research Council and Sri Lankan Council for Agriculture Research Policy.In addition to this two more MOUs on cooperation between Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission of Sri Lanka and Bangladesh Education Ministry and bilateral cooperation in cultural, educational and scientific exchange programs were also signed. Earlier on Monday afternoon, the Sri Lankan President was received at the airport by Bangladesh President Zillur Rehman on his arrival in Dhaka on a three day state visit. This is the first visit by Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapakse to Bangladesh.
