Sri Lanka allows private hospitals to conduct COVID-19 tests

Sri Lanka has allowed private hospitals to conduct COVID-19 tests as the number of cases have shot up to 50 in the country. Director General of Health services Dr. Anil Jasinghe said the permission for private hospitals is under strict conditions and they must provide results of such tests within 24 hours. He added it has also been decided to limit the number of visitors to two persons arriving at hospitals to visit suspected or infected patients. <br />'' <br />'' The government also decided to temporarily ban local trips, religious tours and night clubs in light of the COVID 19 outbreak. Meanwhile, Air India has suspended its flights from Colombo from tomorrow till further notice as flight arrivals in Sri Lanka is getting suspended from tonight. The country has banned all passenger arrivals for a week to tide over the crisis. Earlier, the government imposed curfew in couple of police divisions in a bid to trace out people who returned from foreign countries earlier this month but were not quarantined. <br />'' <br />'' DIG Ajith Rohana said, police curfew will be in place from 4.30 pm this evening until further notice in Puttalam district and Negombo police divisions. President Gotabaya Rajapaksa said,  at the moment, their biggest problem is around two thousand travelers, who had entered from high risk countries for about two weeks before Sri Lanka actually started the quarantine process on 10th of this month.<br />''
