Sri Krishna Committee on Telangana statehood assess ground situation

The Sri Krishna Committee set up by the Centre on Telangana statehood said, the views of common people, in addition to the political parties and other groups would be important for it in preparing report on the issue. Chairman of the panel, Justice (retired) B N Sri Krishna told this to reporters in Hyderabad on the maiden visit of the full committee to Andhra Pradesh Yesterday. When pointed out that political parties in the state are vertically split on regional lines over the issue, he said the committee would consider whatever the political parties have to say. He said the Committee will talk to all sections of society and appealed for cooperation from political parties and groups planning to boycott it. Asked if the recommendations of the panel are binding on the Centre, Mr. Krishna said the government has constituted the committee to understand the ground situation in the state before taking a decision on the complex issue.<br/><br/>
