Sri Durga Malleswara Swamy Devasthanam in Vijaywada gears up for 10 day long Dussehra celebrations

The authorities of Sri Durga Malleswara Swamy Devasthanam have geared up for the 10 day long Dussehra celebrations at Indrakeeladri shrine at Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh. Temple authorities have started making necessary arrangements for the festival which will follow the prescribed COVID-19 protocols. To avoid huge crowds in the pious Durga Malleswara temple some of the rituals will be streamed online this time.<br />'' <br />'' AIR Correspondent reports, Dussehra is the one of the most celebrated festivals in Andhra Pradesh in general and Vijaywada city in particular, as the State government declared it as the State Festival in 2015 and conducts the Festival in a big way annually. At Least 10 to 14 Lakh devotees visit the temple during the Dussehra Season across the Country to offer special prayers.  But, this time the number is estimated to be at least 8 to 10 times lower as the Temple administration is restricting the crowds due to Covid pandemic. <br />'' <br />'' Following this, action plans have been prepared for queue management in line with social distancing norms. Goddess Kanaka Durga is decorated as Sri Swarnakavacha Durga Devi. On this first day today, the Goddess is decorated with Gold ornaments and holds a Trisula in her right hand. The Durga Festival is celebrated for 10 days.<br />
