Identifying the issues which need to be taken due care for bringing police reforms across the country, a committee of senior officers was constituted on Thursday at the 42nd All India Police Science Congress, in Gangtok.
The Committee will examine all the issues and prepare a status report for taking them up with the Centre in a time bound manner.
The Police Experts stressed that the Village Panchayats should be given more teeth for a pre-Litigation resolution of minor disputes as is incorporated in the Bihar Panchayat Act.
AIR Gangtok correspondent reports that a total of 44 research papers on twelve themes are likely to be discussed in the three day long Congress which concludes on Friday.
