Deepak Lather of Haryana has set a national record in the men's 62kg competition of the Senior National Weightlifting Championships. On the second day of the championships at Patiala today, he also won the Gold medal, while setting the record. Lather lifted 126kg in snatch, beating the Indian standard of 125kg, before accumulating 266kg to steal the spotlight. G Anbarasu of Railways bagged the Silver and Vishal Byakude of Maharashtra took the bronze in the event. In men's 69kg category, Sambo Lapung of Arunachal Pradesh ran away with the gold medal with a total lift of 284kgwhile M Ramakrishna won the Silver and Naveen Chandra of Karnataka accountd for the bronze. In women's 53kg category, Harshdeep Kaur of Punjab bagged the gold with a total lift of 186kg, while MatsaSantoshi of Railways collected the Silver and Deeksha Gaikwad of Maharashtra won the bronze.
