Spurious liquor claims 12 lives in Pak

In Pakistan, at least 12 people have died after consuming spurious locally-made liquor in the eastern Punjab province. Regional police officer Ijaz on Monday said scores of people consumed tainted liquor at marriage ceremonies at two different places in Multan. Five people died at the scene and seven others later died at hospital. Several affected people said that they had bought liquor from a local dealer. Police raided several places but could not arrest anyone as they had already fled. Drinking liquor is banned in Pakistan.
