Spread of volcanic ash closes airports in Germany

Germany is closing some airports in the north of the country because of the spread of volcanic ash from the eruption in Iceland. 0 Flights have been suspended at Bremen and Hamburg and officials say the airspace of other cities including Berlin could also be closed later on Wednesday because of the ash cloud. UK airlines have already cancelled flights in parts of Scotland and northern England. Air traffic in Norway and Denmark has also been disrupted. Europe's air traffic controller Eurocontrol said about 500 flights have been cancelled due to the closure of parts of Britain's airspace.
