Spot-fixing: BCCI working committee meets in Chennai today

As pressure on the BCCI Chief N Srinivasan to quit the top post in the wake of spot fixing scandal is mounting, an emergency meeting of the BCCI working committee is scheduled to be held in Chennai today.

The meeting is expected to be a stormy one with more members demnding his ouster.

AIR correspondent understands that the meeting will delibarate on the conditions laid down by N. Srinivasan for stepping aside. So far, Srinivasan has been refusing to resign from the post of BCCI president saying he had done nothing wrong.

His Son-in-Law Gurunath Meiyappan, owner of the IPL team Chennai Superkings has been arrested by the police along with some others on charges of betting during the IPL matches.

Ahead of the crucial BCCI meet, IPL Chairman Rajeev Shukla has resigned from the post. He took the decision to quit saying that he felt it necessary to do so in the light of the recent developments concerning BCCI, including the resignations of BCCI secretary Sanjay Jagdale and treasurer Ajay Shirke.
