Government on Thursday allowed departments to give three out of turn promotions to sportspersons who excel in major events and two for coaches. The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) said in an office memorandum today that the medal winning performance in sports events eligible for out of turn promotion will be restricted to regular disciplines of Olympic Games, Commonwealth Games, Asian Games, World Championships and record breaking medal winning performance in National Games conducted by Indian Olympic Association.The object of the scheme is to promote a sportsperson for excellence in sports events.
