Centre sanctions assistance of 2 lakh to a former athlete The Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports Mr Ajay Maken has sanctioned an ex-gratia assistance of 2 lakh rupees to Mr Kaushalendra Singh, a former National athlete. Mr Singh who is suffering from many age related ailments, is now in indigent condition. Taking cognizance of his poor financial position, the Sports Minister has sanctioned the assistance the Scheme of National Welfare Fund for Sportspersons. Under the scheme the Sports Ministry provides lump sum financial assistance to outstanding sportspersons of the past, who are facing financial distress.
