Sports Minister Jitendra Singh has ordered an inquiry into the over age issue of athletes in the ongoing Asian Youth Games in Nanjing, China. Media reports said, 17 Indian track and field athletes were not allowed to participate in the Games for being above the stipulated age of 17 years. Mr. Singh has also ordered an inquiry on media reports of about 4 Indian badminton players returning back, as their names did not figure in the entry list of the games. The Sports Minister asked the Director General of the Sports Authority of India, SAI to conduct an inquiry into both the incidents and fix the responsibility on the individuals responsible for the lapses.
