The Sports Ministry has requested the International Olympic Committee-IOC to reconsider its decision of dropping Wrestling from core sports for 2020 Summer Olympic Games and retain Wrestling in Olympic Games. The Sports Minister Mr Jitendra Singh has written to the President of IOC, Mr. Jacques Rogge to re-consider the decision of the Executive Board of IOC in this regard. Mr Singh said that Wrestling has been a core sports from the first Olympics onwards and it was a part of ancient Olympics also and that the decision of the Executive Board of IOC excluding Wrestling from Olympics is against the tradition.. In his letter, the Sports Minister also highlighted that Wrestling has immense popularity and fan-following world wide.
