The Sports Ministry has sanctioned over 1.12 crore rupees this month to Himachal Pradesh Sports Council to conduct sports activities under Panchayat Yuva Krida Aur Khel Abhiyan, PYKKA scheme. According to an official release, the PYKKA scheme is being implemented for the development and maintenance of playfields in village and block panchayats across the country and organizing annual sports competitions from block to national levels.AIR correspondent reports that the scheme aims at creation of basic sports infrastructure in 2.50 lakh village panchayats and 6400 block panchayats in a phased manner over a period of 10 years across the country.
