The Sports Ministry has sanctioned over 77 crore rupees to 26 states for conducting the annual sports competitions under Panchayat Yuva Krida Aur Khel Abhiyan (PYKKA) scheme. These states include Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Haryana, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Nagaland, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal. Under the scheme, playfields are developed and sports competitions are conducted annually at block, district, state and national level. AIR correspondent reports that around 52 thousand village panchayats and over 1500 block panchayats have been covered under the PYKKA scheme so far.
