The Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs has sanctioned an ex-gratia of five lakh rupees to archery player Nisha Rani Dutta who is living in a poor condition. The move follows a news report that Ms Dutta, who has played in national and International archery competitions, was forced to sell her bow to repair her mud house. Taking cognizance of her poor financial position, Sports minister Ajay Maken has sanctioned the ex-gratia amount from National Welfare Fund for Sportspersons for the player to meet her needs. Under the scheme, the Ministry provides lump sum financial assistance to outstanding sportspersons of the past, who are facing financial distress.
