The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports has sanctioned over four and a half crore rupees to Odisha and over three crore to Karnataka as part of the Central assistance for procurement of sports consumables and maintenance of playfields. The amount sanctioned under Panchayat Yuva Krida Aur Khel Abhiyan, PYKKA, is also meant for payment of honorarium to Kridashrees and to conduct annual sports competitions. AIR correspondent reports that PYKKA aims at developing and maintaining playfields in villages and block panchayats across the country apart from organizing annual sports competitions from block to national levels.
