Sports Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has clarified that his Ministry received the letter of nomination of badminton star Saina Nehwal for the Padma Bhushan on 3rd of this month. The Minister reaction came on Sunday when Saina Nehwal publicly expressed her disappointment for not being considered for the prestigious Padma Bhushan award this year.Sports Minister said, that despite the late receipt of her application, his ministry will examine today the possibility of recommending her name to the Home Ministry for the award.In a statement, Mr Sonowal said that Saina has made every Indian proud and hoped that she will continue to bring laurels to Indian sports.He assured that his Ministry will examine the possibility of recommending her name separately.However Badminton Association of India maintained that it had sent its nomination of Saina for the prestigious award on time in August last year.
