Sports Minister Vijay Goel will inaugurate the 'Khelo India' National level Competitions at Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Swimming Pool Complex in New Delhi today. In a statement, Mr Goel said that the intention behind these competitions is to provide a platform to the budding talents to compete at national level. He said, talent identification will also be done in the process for grooming them to achieve excellence at international level. More than 25 states and Union territories are expected to participate in the seven day Sports Competitions. The competition is being organized by Sports Authority of India to promote sports at grass-root level. Approximately one thousand participants will participate in three sports Swimming, Cycling and Wrestling. Entry for spectators to watch the events is free at all venues. The Scheme will prove a game changer, as it will not only help to create sports infrastructure, but will also attract budding talent to prove their mettle.
