Sports Minister hails inclusion of wrestling in 2020 Olympics

Sports Minister Jitendra Singh has expressed happiness on the decision of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to include wrestling in the 2020 Olympics. The Sports Ministry in a statement issued in New Delhi today also said it made efforts for wrestling's re-inclusion as it wrote to IOC and also to the countries where wrestling was popular to ensure that the sport is retained in the Olympic Games. Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, IOA Acting President V.K.Malhotra, star wrestler Sushil Kumar, Olympic bronze medallist Yogeshwar Dutt, Dronacharya awardee and renowned coach Satpal Singh also hailed the IOC decision. Wrestling regained its place on the Olympics sports roster after the International Olympic Committee (IOC) voted for it at its 125th session in the Argentine capital Buenos Aires yesterday.
