Sports Minister Vijay Goel today inaugurated Khelo India National level Competitions in New Delhi. Around one thousand participants from over 25 states are participating in swimming, cycling and wrestling competitions. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Goel said the competitions are being conducted not only to promote sports at grass-root level but also help create sports infrastructure in the country. He said, it will provide a platform to the budding talents to compete at national level and will groom them to achieve excellence at international level. The Minister said a National portal for Sports Talent Search will be launched in this month by his Ministry.On the occasion, Mr. Goel also presented medals to the winners of the swimming events in different categories. Khelo India National level Competitions in other disciplines will also be conducted in January and February this year. The events of Kabbadi , Kho Kho and Wushu will be held in Nellore and Weightlifting Boxing and Table Tennis in Guwahati. Athletics, Hand Ball and Hockey competitions will be organized in Gandhi Nagar , Taekwondo , Volleyball and Football in Chennai, Badminton , Gymnastic , Basketball and Lawn Tennis in Hyderabad and Archery and Judo in Jaipur.
