Sports Minister Jitendra Singh has congratulated Arunima Sinha for becoming the first woman in the world to conquer Mt. Everest in prosthetic legs. Jitendra Singh said in a statement today that this incredible achievement shows Arunima's sheer grit and indomitable courage against heavy odds. The Minister said that her efforts and achievements show that a physical handicap is not a deterrent to achieve greatest heights and glory. He added that the achievement will be a source of inspiration to athletes not only from India but from across the world. The 26-year-old Arunima completed her expedition journey from Kathmandu to the top of the peak in 52 days. The former national-level volleyball player had lost her right leg after being thrown off a moving train in Bareilly two years ago.
