A separate sports authority will be set up in Dehradun for promotion of sports in Uttarakhand. Union Minister of state for sports and youth affairs Jitendra Singh said this in Dehradun yesterday. The minister made the announcement after laying the foundation stone of a slew of sports projects worth 42 core rupees at Raiwala in the city.The projects include the state's first synthetic track for athletics, a multi-purpose games hall and different sports related facilities to come up at the parade ground and Youth Welfare Directorate in the city.The Minister appreciated the steps taken by the state government for the promotion of sports in the state and promised all cooperation by the Centre in its endeavours.
