In Punjab, sports centres will be set up at all 146 block headquarters of the state with all world level facilities for the players. Announcing this during a sports function at Nabha in Patiala district, Deputy Chief Minister, Sukhbir Singh Badal said that besides this, a Punjab Institute of Sports is being set up at Mohali after setting up a separate directorate for 11 main sports disciplines.He said that senior players will get training at state level sports institute at Mohali while the block level centres will work as nurseries for players. Government will spend 1 crore, 60 lakh rupees on each sports centre at block level to provide various facilities to budding players. At 20 blocks, venue has been selected for sports centres and construction work will start in the near future. Mr. Badal also said that Punjab Government will provide jobs to 125 players for which the state cabinet will take a decision tomorrow.
