Spl institute to be set up in Imphal for training coaches in NE region: Makan

A special institute will be set up in Imphal for training coaches in the North East region. This was revealed Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Ajay Maken in New Delhi on Friday. Talking to reporters after inaugurating a workshop on Youth and Sports Develpment in North Eastern regions, Mr Maken said that there is need to develop special schemes for North Eastern and Naxal Affected region to tap young talent in these areas. He said that the sports development schemes should also ensure adequate employment opportunities for the sports person. Stating that almost 45 percent of the population in North east is in the age group of 14 to 35 years, Mr Maken called for speeding up the sports infrastructure projects in the region. The Minister also announced setting up of a football academy in Nagaland.
