SpiceJet resumes operations after oil companies agree to supply fuel

SpiceJet airline has resumed its operations after the oil companies agreed to supply jet fuel to the airline. The budget carrier is getting fuel as per the terms of cash and carry agreement which was put in place about six months back. Earlier the SpiceJet had grounded all its aircraft due to non-payment of fuel dues. After resuming its operation the airline said, flights scheduled to depart after 4 pm today have been made operational. However, the flights that were cancelled in the day will remain cancelled. The Civil Aviation Ministry had yesterday stated that the airport operators will be asked to give the airline 15 days time to make payments, while state oil companies will be asked to give credit for up to 15 days. Thousands of passengers were stranded as the airline cancelled many of its flights this morning.
