Spending for nuclear power generation increased to Rs. 14,235 crores in 2021-22: Minister of State in PMO, Dr. Jitendra Singh

<span style="color: #222222;">Government has added 8776 million units of nuclear power in the last 5 years. The Government in July 2014 had announced tripling the quantum of nuclear power generation from the then existing capacity of 4780 MW in ten years.<br />''<br />''Minister of State in PMO, Dr. Jitendra Singh in a written reply in Rajya Sabha informed that spending for nuclear power generation is also increased from 7,881 crore rupees in 2017-18 to 14,235 crore rupees in 2021-22.<br />''<br />''Dr. Singh said, out of the installed capacity of 6780 MW, at present 6140 MW is operating at its rated capacity, while 100 MW was shut down and 540 MW are under project mode to take up improvements to enhance their performance. He said, after the fruition of International cooperation in nuclear energy with the clearance of the Nuclear Suppliers Group in September 2008, India specific Safeguards Agreement with IAEA and Intergovernmental agreements on bilateral cooperation with France, USA and Russian Federation were concluded.</span><br />
