The Bihar Government has constituted a special Economic Offences Unit (EOU) to deal with financial frauds across the state. AIR Patna correspondent reports that the EOU has been created to deal with offences mainly pertaining to serious frauds in banks, cyber crimes, misappropriation of public funds and black marketing. The special unit will also investigate into counterfeiting of currency, drug trafficking and crimes related to antiquities.The EOU will function in addition to the two anti- corruption wings of the state administration- the Vigilance Investigation Bureau and the Special Investigation Bureau.Director General of Police told AIR that initially the special wing will be set at Patna and then it will be extended to districts.
