The International Day of Yoga ( IDY ) will be celebrated all around the world on the 21st of next month. On 27th May 2023, Saturday over 50 thousand people participated in Yoga Mahotsav in Hyderabad to mark 25 Day countdown for IDY. We now bring you a special Story on Prime Minister's Yoga Awards.<br />”<br />”Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the second International Day of Yoga in 2016 announced two categories of Yoga awards, one being International and the other being National to be announced on the occasion of IDY. The purpose of the awards is to recognize and felicitate the individuals or organizations who have made a significant impact on society, for a sustained period, by the way of promotion and development of Yoga.<br />”<br />”The winners are felicitated with a trophy, certificate and a cash award of 25 Lakh rupees. In-case of joint winners, the awards are divided among the winners. The applications or nominations process for this year’s awards was open till the 31st of March 2023.<br />”<br />”Some of the Awardees of the Prime Minister's Yoga Awards are in Individual-National category Swami Rajarshi Muni of Life Mission, Gujarat, Shri Vishwas Mandalik of Nashik and Shri Bhikkhu Sanghasena of Leh, in Individual-International category Ms. Antonietta Rozzi of Italy and Marcus Vinicius Rojo Rodrigues of Sao Paulo, Brazil, in Organisation-National category Bihar School of Yoga in Munger, Yoga Institute, Mumbai, Divine Life Society, Rishikesh, Uttarakhand and in Organisation-International category Japan Yoga Niketan and the British Wheel of Yoga, United Kingdom.<br />”<br />”Conferring the awards, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had said that necessary improvements are being brought in for roping in more and more professionals in not only in the field of modern medicine but also the AYUSH. He also praised the idea of the AYUSH grid, which will help remove a number of silos in this sector.<br />
