The Chief Election Commissioner Nasim Zaidi has said that special interventions are being carried out to facilitate the senior citizens to exercise their franchise during elections. <br/><br/>His response came in the wake of a letter of National Human Rights Commission Member Cyriac Joseph about the difficulties faced by senior citizens during polling. <br/><br/>Mr Zaidi said, there are standing instructions for making a separate queue at the Polling Stations, primarily for the senior citizens and physically challenged persons. <br/><br/>He also said, instructions have been issued to give priority to senior citizens, infirm voters and women with babies over other voters in the queue.<br/><br/>Besides, there is also a provision of Help Desk in the Polling Station locations to assist the voters.
