Fake Indian currency with a face value of over ninety six crore rupees was seized in the first ten months of this year. The National Investigation Agency, NIA, probes such cases.
In a case registered in Jammu and Kashmir, a charge sheet has been filed. Further investigation is continuing to identify the source of the fake Indian currency and the suspects involved.
Giving this information in the Lok Sabha today, the Minister of State for Home, Mr. Jitendra Singh said that a special group has been formed in the Home Ministry to facilitate sharing of information between various intelligence agencies with the CBI as the nodal agency.
He said, the Reserve Bank of India has also strengthened the mechanism to detect counterfeit notes in the banks.
