The Income Tax Department will open special counters at Vikas Bhawan and Pragati Maidan in the national capital to facilitate filing of income tax returns from tomorrow. The special counters will remain open up to 31st of July, the last date for filing of income tax return for the assessment year 2011-12. The special counters will remain open from 9.30 am to 6 pm on 28th, 29th and 30th while it will function from 9.30 am to 8 pm on 31st of July. AIR correspondent reports, special counters will help clear last minute rush. About one lakh tax payers in Delhi are expected to be benefited from the move.Last year about 90,000 taxpayers had filed income and wealth tax returns at Vikas Bhawan. Help desks will also be set up at these counters to assist the people in filing IT returns. Senior citizens and differently-abled persons will also be attended on a priority basis.
