Special Cell of the Delhi Police has arrested four suspected Indian Mujahideen terrorists from Rajasthan. Addressing a press conference in New Delhi this afternoon, Special Commissioner (Special Cell) S N Srivastava said, one of the arrested terrorist is a Pakistani national named Waqas who is wanted in connection with several blasts in the country including the serial blasts at Zaveri Bazaar in Mumbai on 12th of July in 2011.
He said that Waqas was arrested in Ajmer yesterday morning. The Special Commissioner said, Waqas's motive was to meet his aides in Ajmer and plan a terrorist attack. Mr Srivastava said that the Rajasthan Anti Terrorist Squad assisted the Delhi Police in nabbing the fugitives. He said, a huge cache of arms and explosives including detonator, electronic circuits were recovered from those arrested.
Meanwhile, the Rajasthan Police has issued a red alert in the entire state especially in Jodhpur and Jaipur in view of the arrest of the terrorists.Security has been beefed up at airports, railway stations, hospitals and important religious places. Hotels have been asked to keep an eye on the movement of visitors.
Terming the arrest of four suspected Indian Mujahideen terrorists by special cell of Delhi Police as a “big success”, Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde today said it would help in getting more links to nab other terrorists.
Talking to reporters in Mimbai, he said, Waqas, who is a Pakistani terrorist, was wanted in various terrorist attacks in the country. Police was tracking him since the last 8-10 days. Mr. Shinde said, his arrest will help us in providing more links. We are in process of nabbing 2-3 more terrorists he added.
