In Uttar Pradesh, a special CBI court in Ghaziabad today rejected bail application of former Director General of Family Welfare S P Ram in the National Rural Health Mission, NRHM case. The court however granted interim relief to Abhay Kumar Bajpai, Managing Director of state industrial corporation.Bajpai was arrested by CBI from New Delhi on January 6 and is the first accused to be granted interim bail in the NRHM scam. Special CBI judge A K Singh said the charges framed by CBI against Ram in connection with irregularities in utilisation of National Rural Health Mission funds are of very serious nature and he could influence witnesses in the case after being released on bail.”CBI sources said that Bajpai may be arrested again after his release from Dasna jail in Ghaziabad as he is an accused in three other cases related to the NRHM scam.’
