Spanish police today said, they have killed five suspected terrorists in the town of Cambrils to stop a vehicle attack, after an earlier one in Barcelona. <br/><br/>Seven people, including a police officer, were wounded when a car was driven into them early today in Cambrils. Police said the men, wearing explosive belts, were linked to the first attack. 13 people died and 100 injured when a van hit crowds in the Las Ramblas area of Barcelona yesterday. <br/><br/>Police said two people were arrested in connection with the attack. They said, the driver of the van fled on foot and remained at large. Prime Minister, Mariano Rajoy described it a jihadist attack. Islamic State group has claimed the responsibility of the attack in Barcelona. In a brief statement carried by its Amaq news agency Islamic State said, the attack was carried out by Islamic State soldiers. <br/><br/>The authorities are now also linking the attacks in Barcelona and Cambrils with an explosion at a house on Wednesday evening in the town of Alcanar that left one person dead. Police chief Josep Lluis Trapero said it appeared the residents at the Alcanar house had been "preparing an explosive device. World leaders have condemned the terrorist attack in Barcelona and vowed to stand against the evil of terrorism. <br/><br/>In his statement, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said that the world body stands in solidarity with Spain in its fight against terrorism and violent extremism. The United States President Donald Trump also condemned the attack and offered assistance to Spain. Russian President Vladimir Putin has urged the world community to unite in the battle against terrorism. <br/><br/>German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Emmanuel Macron also denounced the attack and called for fight against the forces of terror.
