Spain's Constitutional Court has suspended next Monday's session of the Catalan parliament, in which regional leaders are expected to unilaterally announce a split from Spain. The court said such a move would be a breach of the constitution. <br/><br/>A spokeswoman for the court said, judges ordered the suspension of the plenary that has been called for Monday in the Catalan parliament as the constitutional court hears appeals against it. <br/><br/>According to Catalonian officials, the session had been called to debate the results of Catalonia's banned referendum last Sunday, which returned a 90 percent vote in favour of breaking away from Spain. Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy called on Catalonian authorities to cancel plans to break off from Spain, in order to avoid greater evils. <br/><br/>However, Regional President, Carles Puigdemont called for dialogue between the two sides, but would not renounce plans for secession. The referendum witnessed violent clashes between national police and civilians that left almost 900 people injured.
