Spain celebrates its historic victory in Euro Cup 2012

Spain erupted in joy on retaining their European championship title in style and creating football History. Jubilant fans waved flags, banged drums and blew horns through the night to mark the night of triumph. The title-holders thrashed Italy 4-0 in the Ukrainian capital Kiev on Sunday night, and set to rest all charges of playing a "boring" possession game in the Euro Cup.Spain established their dominance early when David Silva opened the scoring in the 14th minute, heading home a pinpoint cross from Cesc Fabregas. Jordi Alba made it 2-0 in the first half itself, after he ran onto a sublime through-ball from Xavi Hernandez and slotted a left-foot shot past the advancing Buffon.There was more of the same in the second half with Fernando Torres making it 3-0, while Juan Mata sealed the fate of the Italians in the 88th minute. Spanish fans erupted at the final whistle with shouts of "Champions! Champions!" in scenes of wild celebration that brought joy to a nation struggling with recession.
