Space shuttle Discovery starts its journey to Space Station

The space shuttle Discovery has blasted off on its mission to the International Space Station (ISS). The shuttle, on one of the final missions before the programme is shut down, took off from Florida's Kennedy Space Center today. It will haul equipment and supplies to the station in a container called a multi-purpose logistics module. The astronauts are due carry out three spacewalks, to make repairs on the station and retrieve an experiment.
