The oldest and most travelled space shuttle in NASA's fleet, discovery is on track to make its final landing later on Wednesday. Its six member crew has completed final checks before the shuttle begins its descent to the Kennedy Space Centre in Florida after nearly two weeks in orbit. Since its launch in 1984, Discovery has flown 240 million kilometres during its 39 missions. Discovery is the first of the remaining three space shuttles to be retired.
