The Tamil Nadu local bodies minister S.P.Velumani has urged the Centre to extend the proposed Mumbai-Bengaluru industrial corridor project up to Coimbatore.<br />''<br />'' He met the Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in Delhi today and submitted a memorandum. <br />'' <br />'' He said, Coimbatore is one of the fastest developing tier-2 city, a major industrial hub in southern India and sought for the Centre's help in convincing flight operators to run direct flight services from Coimbatore to destinations like New Delhi and Dubai.<br />'' <br />'' In a separate memorandum, he has insisted the Centre to release the grant of about five thousand crore rupees to the state local bodies as per the recommendations of the 14th Finance Commission. It may be recalled that local body elections are due in the state since October 2016, when the term of the previously elected bodies expire. <br />'' <br />''  <br />
