SP snubs Centre for 2G scam

The Samajwadi Party has demanded that properties gained through corrupt practices be seized and the Government should ensure action against the guilty. In the political and economic resolutions passed in its state convention being held at Gorakhpur, the SP also criticised the Centre for scams related to 2G spectrum allocation and Commonwealth Games. It condemned the Uttar Pradesh Government for misusing state funds for constructing parks and statues despite the poor economic condition of the state and termed it as a criminal act. The party has alleged that the State Government was politicising the Government machinery, posing a serious threat to the democratic system. It also alleged that the Government move for indirect elections of mayors and chairman of urban local bodies was an anti-democratic step. The party also demanded that support price of wheat should not be less than 1600 rupees a quintal in the interest of farmers.
