SP members stage walk out in RS on supply of water to Bundelkhand

Samajwadi Party members in the Rajya Sabha today staged a walk out during the Zero Hour on the supply of water to drought-hit Bundelkhand region in Uttar Pradesh. Raising the issue, as soon as the House met for the day, Naresh Agrawal of the Samajwadi Party said that Rail Minister Suresh Prabhu gave wrong information on supply of drinking water to the Bundelkhand region. He alleged that the Minister did not inform in advance the State government on providing water to the State. He demanded that the Minister should apologize for the wrong information. <br/><br/>Samajwadi Party members rushed to the well of the House raising slogans against the Centre. Sharad Yadav of the JD(U) and BSP Chief Mayawati said that there should be no politics in view of the severe drought conditions in Bundelkhand. The Centre and the state should cooperate. Later, Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu clarified that he had talked to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav in this regard. Mr Prabhu said the 10-tank train was in Jhansi for filling water after steam cleaning. The Minister recalled that the Centre had sent water train to Latur. Not satisfied with the Minister's clarification, Samajwadi Party members staged a walkout.
