With bulk of the trends in Uttar Pradesh becoming available, Samajwadi Party is emerging as the single largest party. Out of the 403 seats it is leading 190 seats.

BSP which had an absolute majority of 206 seats in the outgoing house is leading in 83 constituencies.

BJP is leading in 52 seats and Congress alliance are leading in 46 seats. Other parties including Independents are leading in 19 seats.

Among those leading are the BJP Vice President Kalraj Mishra in Lucknow East, Uma Bharti in Charkhari, Shivpal Singh Yadav of Samajwadi Party in Yashwantnagar.

Cabinet Minister Nakul Dubey is trailing in Bakshi Ka Talab. BJP State President Surya Pratap Shahi is trailing in Pathardeva and Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee Chief Rita Bahuguna Joshi is trailing in Lucknow Cant. Wife of Union Law Minister Salman Khurshid, Louis Khurshid is also trailing in Farrukhabad constituency.

Congress is trailing in two of the five seats in Amethi and all the five in Railbareli. Congress candidate Ameeta Singh was leading in Amethi Assembly constituency.

Jayant Chaudhary, son of RLD Chief Ajit Singh was trailing in Mant constituency.

Samajwadi Party is leading in all the three seats of Etawah.

The Congress today accepted the verdict of the people which it said was against its expectation. Party spokesman Rashid Alvi said in New Delhi that his party will find out what went wrong.
