The Samajwadi Party today disowned its leader Shahid Siddiqui. Samajwadi Party National General Secretary and spokesperson Ramgopal Yadav issued a statement disowning him in the wake of his interview of Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi for his Urdu weekly. AIR Allahabad correspondent reports that former Rajya Sabha MP Siddiqui had joined the Samajwadi Party in the presence of party Chief Mulayam Singh Yadav in January this year after his expulsion from the Bahujan Samaj Party. He had contested the Lok Sabha poll as a BSP nominee from Bijnore seat. After joining the SP he had campaigned for the party in the Assembly elections.
