In Assam, Hamren SP, Nityanand Goswami along with another policeman has been killed in an encounter with the militant outfit, Karbi People’s Liberation Army. Additional DGP, AP Rout said that their bodies have been traced at Rangpur area under Hamren sub-division and efforts are on to bring them back.

Rout said the slain SP led a team of six policemen against the militant outfit last evening. After exchange of fire with at least 15 rebels, the police team had scattered. Security forces have launched an operation to find the whereabouts of the police team and confirmed the death of the two policemen including the SP, Mr. Goswami, a former Air Force officer was recruited to the Assam Police Service in a special drive.
